The NBIAM follows the guidelines provided by the WFCC and WHO to develop their laboratory and for the research work. All the safety procedures of microorganisms handling described in the WHO Biosafey Manual for Laboratories are in practice in the NBAIM laboratories. The Import, export and transport of microorganisms and their risk assessment is according to the Acts and Rules of Govt. of India.
The objective of biosecurity is to prevent loss, theft or misuse of microorganisms, biological materials, and research-related information. At NAIMCC, sufficient care is taken on biosafety and biosecurity of the deposits. Besides limited access to facilities, research materials and information, continuous surveillance through installed cameras is done.
